Here’s some footage of our ski day at Eldora. You’ll notice that I really rocked some “tree skiing”… complete with some “tree sidestepping”. 🙂

Holiday Vacation
We left the day after Christmas for Wichita to attend Dad’s cousin’s wedding. We spent two nights there, then headed to Great Bend one night before waking up bright and early to get on the road to Estes Park, Colorado the next day.

E loved dancing at the wedding.
She did so awesome in the car! She slept for the majority of both trips there and back.
E’s first time in Colorado! The weather on the drive out there was not ideal.
Plenty of elk to greet us as we entered Estes Park.
A lot of eating out. E just figuring out what to order.
The weather was COLD! It got down to -26 one night. Not wind chill, actual temperature.
NYE dinner out. We only made it to midnight in the Central Time Zone.
M and I went skiing on New Year’s Day. It was a beautiful day!
I wanted to swing by the Stanley on our way out of town. This little lady was not feeling it.
E drove the last leg of the trip.
We actually cut our time in Estes short. They were predicting bad weather in both Colorado and home so we hit the road a day early. Glad we did as they closed I-70 the following day.
It was a wonderful trip and a great break from reality! Happy 2015 everyone!

One Night Out and One New Door In
M and I went to the K-State basketball game on December 20, 2014 at the Sprint Center downtown. Nana and Papa offered to watch E and the dog overnight so we decided to make it a little holiday staycation and got a hotel room on the Plaza.
We had a great time until we swung by the house the next morning before heading to Independence for a Christmas celebration. We arrived to a bashed in front door. We immediately expected the worst but by some miracle nothing inside had been touched. After some talks with the neighbors and police we discovered that the incident was due to some drunken man at the wrong house. He apparently thought someone was locking him out and was pretty determined to get in. Weirdly though, he never actually came in the house. We have since been in contact with the guy and he has been very remorseful and has paid for the damages.
It is by some divine intervention that no one was home that night. Who knows how that night would have played out. A huge thank you to my Dad and brother who came right over when they found out. While I cleaned up glass, the three boys went right to work finding and installing a new (stronger) door.
